What Integrations do
Suppliers and invoices come in from the accounting system, and bills you have checked in Merchaint go out to it. You will find it at Settings → Integrations, or in the sidebar under Configuration → Integrations.
- Why the work only counts once it reaches your accounts

- The words these screens use, and what they mean elsewhere
- Which accounting systems you can actually connect today
01 · Why
Why do we have this?
Most of the work Merchaint does is only useful if the answer ends up in your accounts. Extraction reads the invoice, comparison checks it against the purchase order, a workflow gets it approved — and then it has to reach the place your finance team actually works.
Connecting is a one-off job for whoever administers the accounting system. Everything after that is per-table work for whoever knows the data. They are usually different people.
02 · What it means for you
Four things live on this page
| On the page | What it is |
|---|---|
| Connections | The accounting companies you have linked, and how healthy each one is. |
| Sync mappings | Saved instructions for bringing records in, with the fields they fill. |
| Sync status | What has run, what worked, what did not. |
| Providers | Everything you could connect, including the ones not ready yet. |
And two things do not
- A workflow's Pull and Push steps. Those are built in Workflows, along with their own field mapping.
- Approving anything before it goes out. That is a workflow too.
Which half of the job happens where
| You do this | Where |
|---|---|
| Connect Xero or QuickBooks, and look after that link | Integrations |
| Add a Pull or Push step to a workflow | Workflows |
| Map fields on a workflow's Pull or Push step | Workflows |
| Set up a sync configuration, and map its fields | Integrations |
| Check what synced, and see one record's state | Integrations |
The words we use
| The screen says | What it means |
|---|---|
| Connection | One accounting company, linked to Merchaint. You can have more than one. |
| Provider | Xero, QuickBooks Online, and the ones still marked Coming Soon. |
| Sync configuration | A saved instruction: bring this kind of record into this table. |
| Pull | Bring records from your accounting system into Merchaint. |
| Push | Send records from Merchaint out to your accounting system. |
| Module | A table of records. These screens sometimes call it a table. See Modules & records. |

Common questions
Xero and QuickBooks Online. Odoo, MYOB and SAP Business One are listed on the page but marked Coming Soon and their buttons do not work.
One per accounting company. If you run three companies in QuickBooks, connect three times.
An organization administrator. If you cannot see the Connect buttons, you do not have the permission.
No. Connecting only links the two systems. Nothing moves until you run a sync, or a workflow does.
