What Integrations do

In this article

Suppliers and invoices come in from the accounting system, and bills you have checked in Merchaint go out to it. You will find it at Settings → Integrations, or in the sidebar under Configuration → Integrations.

  • Why the work only counts once it reaches your accounts
  • The four things that live on the Integrations page, and two that do not
  • The words these screens use, and what they mean elsewhere
  • Which accounting systems you can actually connect today

01 · Why

Why do we have this?

Most of the work Merchaint does is only useful if the answer ends up in your accounts. Extraction reads the invoice, comparison checks it against the purchase order, a workflow gets it approved — and then it has to reach the place your finance team actually works.

Connecting is a one-off job for whoever administers the accounting system. Everything after that is per-table work for whoever knows the data. They are usually different people.

02 · What it means for you

Four things live on this page

On the pageWhat it is
ConnectionsThe accounting companies you have linked, and how healthy each one is.
Sync mappingsSaved instructions for bringing records in, with the fields they fill.
Sync statusWhat has run, what worked, what did not.
ProvidersEverything you could connect, including the ones not ready yet.

And two things do not

  • A workflow's Pull and Push steps. Those are built in Workflows, along with their own field mapping.
  • Approving anything before it goes out. That is a workflow too.

03 · FAQ

Common questions

Which accounting systems can I connect?

Xero and QuickBooks Online. Odoo, MYOB and SAP Business One are listed on the page but marked Coming Soon and their buttons do not work.

Do I need one connection or several?

One per accounting company. If you run three companies in QuickBooks, connect three times.

Who can set this up?

An organization administrator. If you cannot see the Connect buttons, you do not have the permission.

Does connecting move any data on its own?

No. Connecting only links the two systems. Nothing moves until you run a sync, or a workflow does.
