Before you connect a workflow to your ERP

In this article

Two steps do this: Pull from ERP and Push to ERP. Neither can be filled in until a connection exists.

  • Which half of the job happens where, and why it is split
  • How to connect, in four steps
  • What the step shows until a connection exists
  • Which providers can actually be connected today

01 · Why

Why is it split in two?

Connecting is a one-off job for whoever administers the accounting system. Mapping is a per-table job for whoever knows the data. They are rarely the same person, and often not the same day.

WhatWhere you do it
Connect Xero or QuickBooks, and manage the connectionSettings → Integrations — see Connect Xero or QuickBooks
Bring records in, send records outIn a workflow
Decide which field goes whereIn a workflow
Check what synced, and retry a single recordSettings → Integrations — see Checking integration health

02 · How

Connect, then come back

  1. Go to Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find Xero or QuickBooks Online and press Connect.
  3. Sign in to your accounting system and allow access.
  4. Come back to your workflow and add a Pull or Push step. Your connection now appears in the Connection list.

03 · Expected result

The Connection box on the ERP step shows the name of your connection. Until then it says:

No active connections in this workspace. Connect an ERP in Settings → Integrations.

Nothing else on the step can be filled in until that is sorted.

04 · Notes

Only Xero and QuickBooks Online can be connected today

The Integrations page also lists Odoo, MYOB and SAP Business One, all marked Coming Soon.

Connections belong to a workspace

Connecting in one workspace does not make it available in another.

A connection can be named

Which matters if you have more than one company. Pick carefully in the step’s Connection box.

05 · FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a separate connection for pulling and pushing?

No, the same connection does both.

The ERP step mentions Odoo. Can I use it?

No. Some step descriptions name Odoo as an example, but the Integrations page lists it as Coming Soon and it cannot be connected.

Who can connect an accounting system?

An organization administrator. If you cannot see the Connect buttons, you do not have the permission.
