Fix and teach Smart Recognition
When Smart Recognition gets one wrong, you correct it — and the correction is also how it learns. The next document that spells the name the same way resolves on its own.

Why do we have this?
Every correction is worth more than the one record it fixes. Merchaint stores the spelling against the row you picked, so the same messy name resolves by itself from then on.
That's why it's worth correcting properly rather than typing over the top of it.
03 · How
- Open the record and find the Smart Recognition field.
- Click the value. A small panel opens.
- Open
Choose…and search for the right row. - Pick it. It saves straight away.
Leave blank clears the value if none of the options is right.
The panel tells you what it learned: "Saved — this name now maps here on every document", and underneath, Remembered by — the thing it will recognise next time.
04 · Expected result
The field shows the row you picked, and documents with that same spelling resolve without help.
05 · Troubleshooting / notes

| A red blank lookup cell error | The cell has no text to learn from. See the warning below. |
| The right row isn't in the list | It isn't in your list at all. Add it there first. |
| It resolved to the wrong one | Correct it the same way. The new answer replaces the old one. |
| The whole field is greyed | The record is closed or archived. |

Does my correction change other records?
No. It fixes this record and teaches the spelling for future documents — it does not revisit documents that have already been processed.
It learned something wrong. Can I undo it?
Not from this panel. Ask your Merchaint contact.
Common questions
An admin can set Learning new names to Locked on the column.
What it will recognise next time — usually the text in the column itself.
